The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State says it will continue to probe the alleged discovery of N4.3billion stashed in a Zenith Bank Account operated by the Ondo State Government until full details of how the money was spent is made public.
In a chat with journalists, the Director of Publicity, Ondo State PDP, Mr. Zadok Akintoye said the government is yet to address the questions and the concerns raised by members of the public on how the money was spent.
“The key issue here is not about appropriation but how the money was spent. Projects that was executed are appropriated for but the issue is – this money that has been spent, how was it accounted for. Money that was met in the account which is not a new revenue! We are asking that within the last 2 years, why didn’t the government make disclosure about the money because that would amount to insincerity on the part of the government.
Rather than report the fund, government brought the money in as IGR – that is fraud”, he stressed saying the people are desirous to know how much money was the initial capital deposited into the account, what it was meant for and the interest that it has accrued over the years.
While stressing that as equal citizens of the state, the people have the right to demand accountability from the government, Mr. Akintoye urged members of the state house of assembly not to give up on the probe as the PDP has already kick started the process of inviting the EFCC and the ICPC to investigate the details of the N4.3billion discovered in Zenith Bank.
