The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, National Vice Chairman (Southwest), Dr. Eddy Olafeso, who is an aspirant in the coming Ondo State gubernatorial elections, has cleared the air on the news making rounds that he’s no longer contesting, saying it’s a mere farce and should be disregarded.

He said he’s still very much in the race to pick the gubernatorial ticket of the PDP in Ondo State ahead of the election in October 10, this year.

Olafeso news of disinterest in the race started making rounds when a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s Board of Trustees member in Osun State, Senator Olu Alabi, on Monday in an interview he granted the Nigerian Tribune said that Dr. Eddy Olafeso is no longer contesting for the Ondo 2020 governorship election.

Senator Alabi was quoted to have said in the interview that Dr. Olafeso has informed the leadership of the party in Southwest that he is no longer interested in the race for the party’s primary ahead of the October governorship election in Ondo state.

However Dr. Eddy Olafeso through his campaign Organisation in a statement made available to Kakaki Newspot on Monday by his Media Aide, Wande T. Ajayi urged his teeming supporters to disregard the statement credited to Alabi describing same as rumour.

The statement titled “Olafeso Is Very Much In Ondo Governorship Race” stated that Dr. Olafeso didn’t discussed his gubernatorial ambition with Senator Alabi, that he therefore lack power to make any pronouncement on it.

Olafeso Is Very Much In Ondo Governorship Race

The Eddy Olafeso Campaign Organization hereby informs the good people of Ondo State, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the entire South West zone that it’s Principal, Dr. Eddy Olafeso is still very much in the race to become the next Governor of Ondo State.

It is instructive to note that Dr. Olafeso has been moving and the ambition is gaining massive ground. Without prejudice to other candidates, it is certain that he will clinch PDP ticket to contest as candidate of the party in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.

Furthermore, we urge our teeming supporters to please disregard the rumour being peddled by Sen. Olu Alabi. It is nothing but a farce. At no time did Dr. Olafeso discussed his gubernatorial ambition with him, therefore lacks any ability to make any pronouncement on it.
Dr. Olafeso’s gubernatorial ambition is independent of his subsisting position as National Vice chairman of the Party and would not negotiate it with anybody.

Conclusively, we are resolute in our bid to free Ondo State from the shackles of incompetence and inefficient leadership. It is time for the sun of Ondo State to shine again and we will not be deterred by mere rumours that carry no iota of truth in it.
