BREAKING: Security Operatives nab four gunmen in Owo

Security operatives at the early hours of Wednesday nabbed four gunmen at Ikare Junction area of Owo in Owo local governments, Ondo State.

It was a tale of horror at the popular junction that linked the town with the Akokos, when the four gunmen perceived to be Fulani herdsmen were captured by security operatives.

A source who preferred anonymity, told Kakaki Newspot that the gunmen were sighted by the vigilant people of the area who immediately alerted security operatives of their suspicious movements, dressing and the heavy bags they were carrying.

The security operatives that consist of men of the Nigerian Army and Civil Defence Corps were said to have immediately swung into action based on information they received when the Fulani herdsmen were heading towards Ikare Akoko.

It was however discovered that the herdsmen were fully armed to the teeth, with a lot of charms, daggers and dangerous weapons and sophisticated guns when they were stopped and searched.

The gunmen who cannot converse in any other languages than Hausa were immediately ordered to sit on the floor of former Tunji & Tunji Petrol Station before they were whisked away by the security operatives.

When contact on telephone, the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Gbenga Adeyanju, said he had been briefed of the incident.

Commenting on the development, a Chief Lecturer at the Department of Mass Communications, RUGIPO, Dr. Raman Abubakri, who gave kudos to the security operatives, expressed delight over the arrest, saying the security operatives are now doing a beautiful job.

He said, “In fact, I am impressed by the systematized way by which all the security agents are doing a beautiful job presently in Ondo State.” He however urged them not to relent in their efforts to make the state security challenges free.
