INSECURITY: ODSG assured of safety as Police boss promises readiness

As efforts put in place to curb insecurity in Ondo State, the state government has set up a joint security patrol in order to tackle incidence of kidnapping and other societal crimes in the state.

The security team involved in the Task Force according to our source include Nigerian Army, National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Department of Security Service (DSS) and the Police and other relevant stakeholders.

According to information, the security Task Force has moved into all the crime prone areas in the state, as men of the 323 Artillery Brigade have taken over the forest used as kidnappers’ den.

The state Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu informed that the setting of the Task Force was an aftermath of the kidnapping rampant in some areas in the state, like Owo/Ikare and Owo/Akure roads.

Speaking at the Christmas Carols held at International Event Centre posited that the government would do anything within its powers to make sure kidnapping and other crimes become a thing of the past in the state.

The Governor noted that the government will not fold its arms and allow kidnappers overrun the state. He added that security and proactive measures had been taken to eradicate crimes in the state accordingly.

Speaking on the development, the state commissioner of police, Olugbenga Adeyanju informed that the police are doing everything possible at ensuring that kidnapping and related crimes are terminated out in the state.

He added that his officers and men are working 24hours round the clock at ensuring safety of lives and properties in the state, noting that the task force team will also compliments the efforts already put in place by the police at ensuring security in the state.

The Police boss while assuring people of the State, safety of their life and properties, noted that the police authority in the state are always battle ready at combating crimes. He urged the masses not to hesitate in giving useful information to the police to curb crimes and vices in their various communities.
