Socioeconomic activities in Ikare Akoko, headquarters of Akoko North East Local Government has been brought to its knee early on Thursday by ritual and traditional rites embarked on by the people of the town following the killing of two septuagenarians by suspected ritualists.
Peoples of the town, especially traders around Okore and Ojude Oba markets, mostly women who had opened their various shops in the early hour of Thursday were forced to closed down for the day.
The ritual rite was said to be forbidden for women to see or hear its sound, that it would affect them if they see or hear its sound.
It was gathered that the closure of economic activities in the town was not unconnected to the gruesome death of two septuagenarians who were said to have been killed by some suspected ritualists.
The ritual rites, called ‘Oro’, KAKAKI NEWSPOT learnt will be performed for three days was said to be in line with the culture and tradition of Ikare people to expose evil perpetrators and make sure they didn’t go unpunished.
Speaking with KAKAKI NEWSPOT, the Former Leader of the House, Akoko North East Local Government, Hon. Tajudeen Oguns narrated how the two septuagenarians were killed by some unknown suspected ritualists.
He explained that when such unexpected happened in an ancient community like Ikare, some ritual rite will be done to expose the evil perpetrators and prevent further occurrence.
It could be recalled that the Owa Ale of Ikare, Oba SKA Adedoyin had condemned the evil act. He said “it’s rather unfortunate and anathema to the course of Ikare people which must be condemned in it entirety, hoping that the law enforcement agency will see to the root of the matter.”
