Akungba royal rumble: Royal family asks Akeredolu to stop monarch’s coronation

Ole ruling family at Akungba Akoko has called on governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to stop proposed coronation and alleged installation of chiefs by the embattled Alale of Akungba, Oba Sunday Isaac Adeyeye Ajimo who was allegedly installed wrongly by the immediate past government of Olusegun mimiko as at the time the suit filed/instituted by the Ajimo family against the Agure/Mokun family challenging the victory of prince Isiaka Oseni Adu as the Alale of Akungba Land (Elect) was pending in court.

In a letter addressed to the governor and signed by the Secretary and the Head, Ole Ruling, the Alale of Akungba Land (Elect), House of Alale Chieftaincy Prince Mufutau Oseni and Pa Emmanuel Salau.

The letter is entitled, “RE: COMPLAINT OF PLAN OF PRINCE SUNDAY ISAAC AJIMO TO CONDUCT HIMSELF INTO ACTION LIKELY TO CAUSE BREACH OF PEACE IN AKUNGBA AKOKO.”

The letter reads apart that “we are again bringing to your notice the proposed plan of Prince Sunday Isaac Adeyeye Ajimo to do coronation and Installation of Chiefs on or before 29th December, 2018.”

Ole ruling family explained that, “we have written several letters to intimates the government that Prince Sunday Isaac Adeyeye Ajimo was wrongly installed by the immediate past government of Olusegun mimiko as at the time the suit filed/instituted by the Ajimo family against the Agure/Mokun family challenging the victory of prince Isiaka Oseni Adu as the Alale of Akungba Land (Elect) at the state High court, Oka was still pending at the Appeal Court sitting in Akure.”

The government had stopped similar coronation celebration sometimes last year to forestall breakdown of law and order.

“It should be noted that the Appeal Court Judgment delivered on the 11th Day of December 2017 favoured our family thereby confirming the validity of Prince Isiaka Oseni Adu as the authentic Alale of Akungba Land.”

“The Judgment which prompted Akungba Kingmakers and the whole community to accept him as King of Akungba Land. Thereafter Prince Sunday Isaac Ajimo approached the Supreme Court in disguised to challenge the judgment of the appeal court. The suit which is still pending and subsequently stopped the approval process of Prince Isiaka Oseni Adu.”

“We equally reliably gathered that Prince Sunday Isaac Adeyeye Ajimo has maneuvered the government through misinformation that all the Chiefs in Akungba Community had passed on to the great beyond which is absolute lies to the constituted authority.”

The letter notes that, “all these Chiefs refused coming to the Palace for a meeting with Prince Sunday Isaac Ajimo who is currently occupying the palace illegally pending the determination of the Supreme Court Judgment in order to avert double stand loyalty since authentic Oba has been declared by two courts of competent jurisdiction.”

“Despite the court of Appeal Judgment which confirmed Prince Isiaka Oseni Adu as the authentic Alale of Akungba Land, Prince Sunday Isaac Ajimo has continued to parade himself as the Alale of Akungba and has refused to vacate the palace.”

“His continual stay in the palace is a deliberate attempt to provoke our family and entire People of Akungba to a duel which will be dangerous to the University community.”

“We wish to inform your Excellency, Sir, that our peaceful conduct and silence that gives room for continual stay in Alale palace of Prince Sunday Isaac Ajimo was the respect we have for the rule of law and our faith in the Ondo State Government under your leadership to maintain peace and order.”

“Now that Prince Sunday Isaac Ajimo has been given approval by the government to do coronation and installation of Chiefs disregarding the case at the supreme court, we will not tolerate that illegality and contemptual act that may spelt doomed on the land if not cautioned.”

“In view of the above, we urge the government to quickly reverse the approval given to Prince Sunday Isaac Adeyeye Ajimo to do coronation and Installation of Chiefs as claimed by him and his cohorts pending the determination of the suit instituted by him at the Supreme Court that is awaiting Judgment.”

“It is our belief that your Excellency will give this petition the needed quick and urgent action without delay to avoid unnecessary friction in Akungba Community the University town.”
