Ogun Police Bust ‘Baby Factory’, Rescue Two Pregnant Women, Four Children

The Ogun State Police Command has busted an alleged ‘baby factory’ in Mowe, rescuing two pregnant women and four children and arresting six suspects, including a nurse.

The operation, carried out on Monday, August 24, 2026, by operatives of the Mowe Division, followed sustained intelligence on alleged human trafficking and illegal adoption activities at a facility in Abaren Village, a suburb of Mowe.

The two pregnant women rescued were identified as Ilesanmi Foluke, 23, who was seven months pregnant, and Ejekwa Melody, 20, who was eight months pregnant.

Four children, comprising two boys and two girls, were also recovered during the raid.

The six suspects arrested are Florence Glory Ogbona, 58; Magdalene Julius, 63; Chidike Egwuonwu, 40; Onyechu Chidike, 35; Stephen Ogbona, 39; and Oseni Kusamotu Idaya, an attending nurse.

The police said the operation took place at about 8 a.m. at the syndicate’s hideout on Toluwalase Street, Abaren Village, via Gbarinmole, following intelligence that human trafficking and illegal adoption activities had been taking place at the facility.

The Command further disclosed that intelligence-led follow-up operations took its operatives to a hospital within the Mowe axis, where another victim, Blessing Bright Effiong, 26, had given birth to a baby boy on August 20.

According to the police, the whereabouts of the newborn could not be accounted for while the mother was receiving medical treatment at the hospital, prompting the arrest of the attending nurse as efforts commenced to locate the missing baby.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation into the activities of the alleged syndicate, including efforts to locate the missing newborn and prosecute suspects found culpable.

The Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, ASP Oluborode Opeyemi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday.

The statement quoted the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, as commending the Mowe Division operatives for their prompt response and operational efficiency.

Ojajuni, according to the statement, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to combating human trafficking, child trading and other forms of violent crime across the state.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant and support the police by providing timely and credible information on suspicious activities.
