The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has promoted 7,472 personnel comprising 2,134 officers and 5,338 marshals in a major career progression exercise aimed at strengthening professionalism, leadership and operational effectiveness.

The promotion, approved by the Corps, recognises the dedication, competence, discipline and years of service of personnel who have distinguished themselves in the discharge of their duties.

The Corps Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday, August 21, 2026, saying the newly promoted personnel would be decorated with their new ranks between Wednesday, August 26 and Friday, August 28.

According to him, Heads of Departments, Corps Officers, Heads of Special Units and Commanding Officers have been directed to conduct the decoration ceremonies under their respective commands in line with the Administrative Instruction on the Decoration of Newly Promoted Officers and Marshals.

Reacting to the development, the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, mni, described the promotion as both a reward and a responsibility, charging the affected personnel to justify their elevation through higher standards of professionalism, accountability and service delivery.

Mohammed congratulated the newly promoted officers and marshals, urging them to see their new ranks as a mandate to do more, lead better and serve the Nigerian motoring public with greater distinction.

He said the strength of the FRSC was not measured only by its patrol vehicles, technology or enforcement architecture, but fundamentally by the quality, character and commitment of its personnel.

According to him, every additional stripe, pip or insignia represents increased expectations from the Corps, the Federal Government and the Nigerian people.

The Corps Marshal urged the newly promoted personnel to demonstrate discipline both on and off the road, treat members of the public with dignity, uphold the integrity of the Corps and remain committed to the pursuit of safer roads.

The promotion comes as the FRSC intensifies its operational, technological and public enlightenment interventions aimed at reducing road traffic crashes and improving compliance with traffic regulations nationwide.

The Corps said a motivated and professionally developed workforce remained central to sustaining these interventions and achieving measurable improvements in road safety outcomes.

It charged the promoted personnel to approach their new responsibilities with renewed commitment, stressing that rank was not merely worn but earned, entrusted and ultimately measured by service to the nation.
