The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspected member of the Eiye Confraternity and recovered a locally made single-barrel pistol during an operation in Mushin, Lagos.
The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Segun Alani, was arrested following credible information on cult-related activities at Ogunmokun Under-Bridge, Mushin, the Command said.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebesi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday, August 14, 2026, saying operatives of the Command immediately mobilised a surveillance team to the area after receiving the information.
Adebesi said a search of the bag in Alani’s possession led to the recovery of one locally made single-barrel pistol concealed inside the bag.
She added that the suspect was currently in police custody and providing useful information to assist the ongoing investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their prompt response and intelligence-driven operation.
Fatai reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to disrupting cult-related activities and recovering illegal firearms across the state.
He warned cultists and other criminal elements to desist from their activities or face the full wrath of the law.
The Command also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the police through its emergency lines for prompt response.
