Fearless Fuels Portable, Charles Okocha Rematch Ahead of ‘Chaos in the Ring’

By Adebola Isimijola, Lagos

Fearless Energy Drink has thrown its weight behind the much-anticipated celebrity boxing rematch between popular singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, and actor-comedian Charles Okocha, ahead of the “Chaos in the Ring” event scheduled for Friday, July 31, at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The sponsorship was highlighted during a pre-fight press conference held at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Ikeja, Lagos, on Wednesday, July 29, where both entertainers came face-to-face in a tense stare-down that reignited their rivalry dating back to their first bout in December 2023.

The organisers said the encounter reflected the determination and confidence of both contenders as they prepare for another showdown before fans and entertainment enthusiasts.

Portable, who won their previous contest at Landmark Beach, Victoria Island, Lagos, taunted his opponent during the face-off, saying, “You don chop am before… you go chop am again,” expressing confidence that he would secure another victory.

Charles Okocha, however, remained unfazed and responded: “This chicken leg… let’s see how it goes on Friday,” insisting he was determined to overturn the outcome of their first meeting.

Speaking at the event, Brand Manager, Fearless Energy Drink, Rite Foods Limited, Olaniyi Aderuku, said the sponsorship reflects the brand’s commitment to supporting activities that embody courage, confidence and determination.

According to him, “‘Chaos in the Ring’ is another platform where the brand will showcase its revitalising flavour, instigating the action it represents in the contestants, who are determined to come up with their best.”

Aderuku added that the brand’s “I CAN, I AM” philosophy aligns with the competitive spirit of the event and its consumers’ lifestyle.

Also speaking, Group Chief Executive Officer of Balmoral Group, Ezekiel Adamu, described the competition as an avenue to showcase African talent, attract international partnerships and create fresh opportunities within the sports ecosystem.

Besides the Portable-Okocha headline fight, other bouts on the card include Idowest against Mr Real, Great Britain’s Shiloh Defreitas, also known as “Sugar Shy”, versus Ghana’s Eric “Kojo” Quarm, Rilwan Lawal against Yusuf Adeniji, and Nigeria’s Basit Adebayo taking on Tanzania’s Said Chino.

The organisers expressed optimism that the event would attract entertainment lovers and boxing enthusiasts eager to witness another thrilling celebrity contest.
