More than 400 women in Majidun, Ikorodu, Lagos State, have received food assistance through a partnership between JMG Limited and the Lagos Food Bank Initiative to ease hunger and support vulnerable families.

The intervention, held on October 17 to commemorate World Food Day, involved the distribution of essential food supplies to beneficiaries as part of efforts to address food insecurity and reduce the burden of providing daily meals for their families.

The development was contained in a statement by JMG, which said the initiative reflected its commitment to community welfare beyond its core business of providing electromechanical solutions across Nigeria.

According to the statement, members of JMG’s leadership team and staff joined volunteers of the Lagos Food Bank Initiative at its headquarters to package food items before proceeding to Majidun for distribution.

The outreach commenced with the Lagos Food Bank Initiative pledge, reaffirming the partners’ shared commitment to alleviating hunger and providing practical support to vulnerable households.

Speaking during the exercise, JMG’s Chief Operating Officer, Christian G. Kozma, said the intervention was part of the company’s efforts to support women and recognise their contributions to society.

“Today, we are supporting communities in Ikorodu as part of the World Food Day celebration, with the goal of reaching more than 400 women. Women are central to every society, from birth through every stage of life, and at JMG, we recognise their importance,” he said.

JMG’s Chief Human Resources Officer, Gloria Ibeziako, said tackling hunger required shared responsibility, urging individuals and organisations to contribute to improving the welfare of families in need.

“At JMG, we believe in empowerment, care and shared responsibility. It is a source of pride to contribute to putting food on the tables of families who need support. Hunger is real, and every individual and organisation can play a role in reducing it,” she said.

Ibeziako added that collective efforts could help provide relief to struggling families and create better opportunities for vulnerable households.

The company’s Head of Marketing, Oluwatomi Faniran, said the partnership demonstrated the importance of collaboration in addressing community needs and delivering meaningful social impact.

She noted that working together enabled organisations to provide assistance while strengthening the relationship between businesses and the communities they serve.

The Executive Director of the Lagos Food Bank Initiative, Dr Michael Sunbola, commended JMG for supporting the programme and helping to deliver food assistance directly to families.

One of the beneficiaries, Morenike Adigun, expressed appreciation to JMG and the Lagos Food Bank Initiative, saying the food supplies would help ease the pressure of providing meals for her family.

She said the assistance would go a long way in meeting household needs and expressed hope that similar initiatives would reach more families requiring support.

The Baale of Majidun, Chief Alex Olusegun Omoyele, also commended the two organisations for extending assistance to residents and helping to reduce the burden on local households.

The partnership highlights the role of collaboration between private companies and humanitarian organisations in providing immediate relief to vulnerable families, particularly those struggling to meet basic food needs.
