Fidelity Bank, Foremost Radiology Partner on Breast Cancer Awareness

As Initiative features webinar, screening outreach in Lagos

By Adebola Muili

Fidelity Bank Plc and Foremost Radiology have partnered to promote early breast cancer detection through a public awareness campaign featuring a medical webinar and a breast health screening outreach in Lagos.

The initiative, being implemented through HerFidelity, the bank’s women-focused proposition, will feature a webinar on Friday, October 16, 2026, while a breast health screening and awareness outreach is scheduled to hold at Oyingbo Market on October 25.

In a statement announcing the initiative, Fidelity Bank said the campaign was designed to encourage women to recognise possible warning signs of breast cancer, seek professional medical advice and take timely action when they notice unusual changes.

The webinar, themed Beyond the Lump: The Role of Awareness and Imaging in Early Breast Cancer Detection, will feature Dr Alabi, a Consultant Radiation and Clinical Oncologist.

Scheduled for 10 a.m. West African Time, the session will address breast cancer symptoms, the role of medical imaging and the importance of timely professional evaluation. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions and obtain information to guide decisions about their breast health.

The bank explained that breast cancer could present through a lump or thickening, changes in breast size or shape, alterations to the skin or nipple, or unusual nipple discharge. Some of these changes, it noted, might occur without pain.

Although such symptoms do not necessarily indicate cancer, the statement stressed the importance of seeking prompt medical evaluation when unusual changes are noticed.

The campaign is anchored on the message, Know, Check, Act, which seeks to promote informed conversations, appropriate checks and timely access to professional medical care rather than fear surrounding the disease.

As part of the initiative, the October 25 outreach at Oyingbo Market is expected to take breast health information closer to women in one of Lagos’s busy commercial communities.

The outreach is designed to reach women where they work and conduct business, reinforcing the importance of recognising unusual changes and seeking qualified medical attention.

The initiative also forms part of HerFidelity’s broader commitment to women’s empowerment through access to finance, business education, capacity building, entrepreneurship support and health and wellness programmes.

According to the bank, the proposition recognises that sustainable economic empowerment requires more than access to capital, encompassing the knowledge, health and wellbeing women need to grow their businesses, support their families and contribute to their communities.

Through its various programmes, HerFidelity supports women with funding opportunities, business development education, mentorship and entrepreneurial development, while its health and wellness pillar promotes attention to women’s wellbeing.

Women interested in participating in the October 16 webinar can register online through the designated registration platform.

My verdict: This version has a clearer news angle, a stronger opening, more purposeful attribution and less repetition. It is closer to The HOPE Newspaper’s straight-news style.

One editorial point: I have retained the source’s description of the webinar and screening outreach without claiming that the market event will provide free screening, because the statement does not explicitly confirm that the service will be free.
