Promasidor reaffirms commitment to Nigeria’s economic growth, nutrition

By Adebola Muili

Promasidor Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to Nigeria’s economic development through investments in local production, job creation, community development and access to affordable nutrition.

The company made this known in a statement issued on Wednesday to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, noting that its investments across the food and dairy value chain were aimed at creating sustainable economic and social value.

According to the company, a key part of its investment in Nigeria is the Ikun Dairy Farm, which is supporting the development of the local dairy value chain through increased domestic milk production and sustainable dairy production.

The farm, it said, currently hosts more than 650 high-yielding cattle, provides direct employment to over 200 people and supports more than 1,000 indirect jobs in surrounding communities.

The company said the investment had also contributed to economic activity and strengthened local capacity within Nigeria’s dairy value chain.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Executive Officer of Promasidor Nigeria, François Gillet, congratulated Nigerians on the Independence Anniversary and said the company would continue to support national development through sustainable investments and inclusive business practices.

Gillet said, “As Nigeria celebrates 66 years of independence, we are reminded that nation-building is a shared responsibility. At Promasidor, we remain committed to investing in Nigeria, creating opportunities, strengthening local value chains and making quality nutrition more accessible to consumers.”

Promasidor said its contribution to nutrition in Nigeria dates back to March 1993, when it introduced Cowbell Milk in sachet format, which it said helped make milk more affordable and accessible to a wider segment of the population.

The company added that it had continued to invest in product innovation, quality and accessibility, with its portfolio now comprising Cowbell, Loya, Miksi, Toptea, Onga, Twisco and Kremela.

Gillet said the company’s investment strategy extended beyond manufacturing to creating value across its wider business ecosystem.

“Our investments are designed to create value across the entire chain – from local production and employment to the consumer. By strengthening the dairy value chain, creating jobs and providing affordable nutritional products, we are contributing to a stronger and more resilient Nigerian economy,” he said.

Promasidor also said it had recently received industry recognition, including the Outstanding Dairy Company of the Year award, while its Cowbell brand was named Dairy Brand of the Year.

The company further said it received a Corporate Social Responsibility Award at the Advertisers Association of Nigeria (ADVAN) Awards for Marketing Excellence for its community-focused initiatives.

As Nigeria marks its 66th year of independence, Promasidor said it would continue to support the country’s economic and social development through investments in local production, employment, community prosperity and access to quality nutrition.
