JTI Nigeria reaffirms commitment to economic growth as Nigeria marks 66th Independence

Japan Tobacco International (JTI) Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to contributing to Nigeria’s economic growth as the country celebrates its 66th Independence Anniversary.

In a statement issued to mark the anniversary on Wednesday, the company said its 18-year presence in Nigeria had been marked by continued participation in the country’s economic development through its business operations, while also promoting an inclusive workplace.

JTI Nigeria said it remained focused on maintaining a work environment founded on respect, equal opportunity and employee development, alongside its broader engagement with stakeholders.

Speaking on the anniversary, the General Manager, JTI Nigeria, Abdallah Simba, said the occasion provided an opportunity to reflect on Nigeria’s progress and the resilience of its people.

“​​Nigeria’s Independence Anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate the country’s progress and the resilience of its people,” Simba said.

He added that JTI Nigeria was proud to have been part of the country’s journey for 18 years and would continue to conduct its operations responsibly while supporting its employees and contributing to the wider society.

According to him, the company would continue to focus on strengthening its contribution to the Nigerian economy and creating sustainable value for its employees, business partners and other stakeholders.

The company said its future efforts would build on the progress recorded over the years, with continued attention to responsible business practices and sustainable value creation.

JTI Nigeria is part of Japan Tobacco International, a global tobacco and vaping company headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. The company operates in more than 130 countries and has about 47,000 employees worldwide.
