LASEPA seals church, 11 other establishments over environmental violations

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed 12 establishments across different parts of the state over persistent breaches of environmental regulations.

The enforcement operation was carried out on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, in Ogba, Idimu-Ikota, Ejigbo, LASU-Iba Road, Igando and Agodo-Egbe areas of Lagos.

LASEPA, in a statement made available to journalists, said the affected establishments were shut after allegedly failing to comply with repeated warnings, abatement notices and other directives issued by the agency to address identified environmental violations.

The agency said the exercise was part of efforts by the Lagos State Government to enforce environmental laws, protect public health and ensure a cleaner and safer environment for residents.

According to LASEPA, the violations ranged from noise pollution to failure to comply with prescribed corrective measures, while one of the establishments was also accused of obstructing the agency’s officials during enforcement.

Among the establishments sealed was Thrillz Lounge on Odusanmi Street, Ogba, which was shut over noise pollution and non-compliance with LASEPA’s directives.

Marvel Hotel & Suites, located at Chrisbee Crescent, BRT Bus Stop, Igando, was also sealed over noise pollution and alleged failure to comply with the agency’s directives.

Others included Feixiang Plastic, along LASU-Ojo Road, Oko Filling Bus Stop; DSN Hotel & Suites on Benson Onyeacholen Street, O’Mark Bus Stop, LASU-Igando Road; Rudaj Vegetable Oil on Tanimowo Street, Ologufe Bus Stop, Igando Road; and Limas on Aro-Oloye Street, off Abaranje Road, Abaranje, Ikotun.

Nico Hotel & Suites, Ayawo Close, NEPA Bus Stop, Egbe-Isolo Road, Ejigbo; Master Furniture, Coleman Street, Pao Bus Stop, Idimu-Ikota Road; and Nikky’s Executive Bar & Lounge on Governor’s Road, Ikotun, were also sealed for non-compliance with environmental directives.

Keviz Hotel & Suites on Councilor Ajayi Street, Obadore Bus Stop, LASU-Iba Road, was sealed for alleged obstruction of duty and non-compliance.

The agency also sealed the Celestial Church of Christ, Aduragbemi Parish, on Adetola Buhari Street, Okerube Bus Stop, Ikotun, over noise pollution and non-compliance, as well as 10Kobo Night Club on Abanishe Street, off Hostel Road, Agodo-Egbe, over similar violations.

Speaking on the enforcement, LASEPA General Manager, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, said the agency would sustain monitoring and enforcement to protect public health and preserve the environment across Lagos.

Ajayi described environmental compliance as a collective responsibility and said the agency would continue to take enforcement action against individuals, businesses, religious organisations and corporate bodies whose activities pose risks to the environment and the wellbeing of residents.

He urged business owners, facility operators, religious institutions, scrap dealers and residents to embrace environmentally responsible practices, secure the necessary permits and approvals and comply with applicable environmental regulations.

The LASEPA boss also called for greater cooperation from residents and operators as the agency intensifies efforts to build a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable Lagos.
