Customs Begins Final Phase Of 2025 Recruitment Screening

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has commenced the final phase of its 2025 recruitment exercise, with shortlisted candidates undergoing documentation, physical fitness assessment and medical screening at the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Gwagwalada, Abuja.

The two-week exercise, which commenced on Monday, September 7, 2026, covers shortlisted candidates for the Assistant Superintendent of Customs II (ASCII), Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres and is scheduled to end on September 19, 2026.

To ensure an orderly process and prevent congestion, the candidates are being screened in batches, arranged alphabetically according to their states of origin.

Speaking to the candidates at the screening centre, the Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs in charge of Human Resource Development, Frank Onyeka, said the exercise was designed to assess not only the physical fitness of applicants but also their character and professional conduct.

Onyeka, who spoke on behalf of the Comptroller-General of Customs, congratulated the candidates for reaching the final stage and urged them to remain orderly and comply strictly with the guidelines governing the exercise.

“Beyond physical requirements, your attitude, discipline, and conduct are critical factors in deciding who ultimately joins the Service,” he said.

He said the NCS was working closely with the Customs Police and other relevant units to safeguard the integrity of the recruitment process.

Also speaking, the Commandant of the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada, Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs Dow Gaura, said administrative innovations and inter-agency collaboration had contributed to the smooth conduct of the exercise.

Gaura said the exercise reflected the policy direction of the Comptroller-General of Customs, particularly in the areas of continuous operational improvement, collaboration and innovation.

“The process has been seamless, hitch-free, and conducted without any casualties,” he said.

The screening of candidates for the Assistant Superintendent of Customs cadre is scheduled to conclude on Thursday, September 10, while the screening of candidates for the Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres will continue until September 19, 2026.
