Ogun CP Seeks Youth Partnership Against Crime, Social Vices

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, has called for stronger collaboration with students and youth organisations in tackling cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime and other social vices threatening security in the state.

Ojajuni made the call on Friday, August 15, 2026, when he received separate delegations from the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and the Afenifere National Youth Council at the Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

The NANS delegation was led by its Secretary General, Comrade Oladimeji Uthman, while the Afenifere National Youth Council delegation was led by its National President, Prince Eniola Joseph Ojajuni.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, DSP Oluseyi B. Babasayi, in a statement issued on Saturday, the visits were aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Police and youth and student stakeholders on campus safety, crime prevention and public security.

Speaking during the engagement with NANS, Uthman commended the Commissioner for his achievements since assuming office, while highlighting security challenges confronting tertiary institutions in the state, particularly the protection of lives and property and the prevalence of social vices.

He pledged the association’s continued support for the Command in ensuring a safe and secure learning environment for students across Ogun State.

In recognition of his leadership and commitment to youth welfare, NANS conferred on Ojajuni the honour of NANS National Ambassador Against Social Vices.

Responding, the Commissioner appreciated the students for the honour and emphasised the important role of the student body in maintaining peaceful and secure campuses.

Ojajuni said the Command had remained committed to protecting lives and property and preventing criminality, noting that its proactive operations and strategic engagements had yielded positive results in tertiary institutions across the state.

He disclosed that the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) had been officially launched in Ogun State, with a statewide sensitisation campaign planned to address cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime and other social vices.

The Commissioner urged NANS to partner with the Command to ensure the campaign achieves maximum impact across tertiary institutions.

Similarly, the Afenifere National Youth Council commended Ojajuni and his management team for their efforts in combating criminality in the state.

The council subsequently presented the Commissioner with an award as “Best Commissioner of Police in the South-West of Nigeria on Security,” in recognition of his operational achievements and commitment to public safety.

The council’s National President, Prince Eniola Joseph Ojajuni, pledged the organisation’s support for the Command in maintaining public safety and order.

In his response, CP Ojajuni thanked the delegation for the award and urged the council to remain apolitical and focused on promoting the welfare and development of the people.

He identified the decline in moral and cultural values as a major factor contributing to crime and youth involvement in social vices, urging the council to promote hard work, diligence, integrity, discipline, mutual respect and responsible citizenship among youths.

The Commissioner also invited the council to partner with the Command on moral re-engineering, youth engagement and community-driven crime prevention initiatives across the state.

Ojajuni reiterated the Command’s commitment to sustained engagement with students, youths, community leaders, traditional institutions and other stakeholders, stressing that “effective policing and sustainable security require collective responsibility, strategic partnership and continuous dialogue.”
