PTML Customs Tasks Senior Officers on Improved Service Delivery

The Port & Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has charged its senior officers to translate leadership lessons into improved service delivery, professionalism and efficiency in the discharge of their duties.

The Acting Area Controller of the Command, DC Nura Ibrahim Miko, gave the charge on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, while declaring open a leadership seminar organised for senior officers at the Command’s Conference Hall.

Miko said effective leadership was critical to the attainment of the Customs Service’s core mandates of revenue generation, trade facilitation and suppression of smuggling.

According to him, the Command remained committed to initiatives that promote the welfare, health and productivity of officers, including the recently commenced Work-Life Balance Initiative.

The seminar featured sessions on strategic leadership, effective communication, decision-making, conflict management and ethical conduct.

Miko, who delivered the first session titled, “Leadership and Followership: Building a Culture of Collaboration and Excellence,” urged participants to apply the knowledge acquired to their responsibilities for better service delivery.

He also reassured stakeholders and members of the trading community of the Command’s commitment to professionalism, transparency and ease of doing business.

The seminar, organised in line with the vision of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, PhD, MFR, FNIPR, PSC+, drew participants from the rank of Chief Superintendent of Customs to Deputy Comptroller of Customs.

A major highlight of the event was the presentation of Certificates of Excellence to two officers in recognition of their diligence and effective service delivery.

The recipients were Assistant Comptroller J.O. Ezekuse, Officer-in-Charge, Mile 2 Gate, and Chief Superintendent of Customs C.A. Ibrahim, Officer-in-Charge, Legal Unit of the Command.

Miko commended the awardees and urged other officers to remain committed to excellence, stressing that the Command had a mechanism for identifying and rewarding “diligence, selflessness and efficient service delivery.”

The Acting Area Controller also charged the officers to continue giving their best in service to the country, noting that professionalism and teamwork remained essential to achieving the Command’s objectives.
