Polaris Bank Hosts Employees’ Children to Workplace Experience

Polaris Bank has hosted children of its employees to a day of fun, learning and workplace discovery as part of efforts to deepen employee engagement and expose young participants to the world of work.

The “Bring Your Child to Work” programme, held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, brought together children aged six years and above, giving them an opportunity to see where their parents work, meet their colleagues and gain a better understanding of their professional responsibilities.

The children, selected through an internal trivia draw conducted for staff, participated in activities designed to promote learning, creativity, teamwork, networking and curiosity.

A major highlight of the programme was a guided tour of the bank’s premises, during which the children visited the banking hall and various departments, giving them firsthand experience of the banking environment and an insight into how different teams contribute to the operations of a financial institution.

Speaking at the event, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Polaris Bank, Kayode Lawal, represented by the Head of Human Resources, Olanrewaju Oyekunle, urged the children to make the most of the experience.

Lawal said the workplace was more than meetings and desks, stressing that it was also about solving problems, helping people, learning and making meaningful contributions.

“At Polaris Bank, we believe that work is more than meetings and desks. It is about solving problems, helping people, making life easier, learning, and making a meaningful contribution,” he said.

He encouraged the children to remain curious, ask questions and enjoy the experience, while noting that the programme could inspire them to pursue different careers in future.

“Who knows? Perhaps one day, some of you will become bankers, entrepreneurs, doctors, engineers, technology experts, or even leaders of great organisations,” Lawal added.

Another highlight was an interactive session facilitated by the bank’s Executive Director, Corporate and Investment Banking, Abimbola Ozomah, who introduced the children to the fundamentals of banking in a simple and engaging manner.

During the session, the children learnt how banks operate, the importance of saving money, responsible financial habits and the role of banks in helping individuals and businesses manage their finances.

The interactive session also gave the children an opportunity to ask questions and share what they had learnt, while other activities encouraged them to make new friends and interact with one another.

For the participating parents, the initiative provided an opportunity to share an important part of their daily lives with their children and help them appreciate the values of responsibility, collaboration, service and commitment.

Polaris Bank said the initiative also reinforced the importance of curiosity and continuous learning, encouraging the children to explore different career paths and appreciate the range of roles that contribute to the success of an organisation.

The bank said the programme formed part of its continued focus on employee wellbeing and engagement, recognising the connection between employees’ professional and family lives.

It added that creating opportunities for employees to share their workplace experiences with their families would help foster an inclusive and people-focused culture where employees and their families feel valued and connected.
