…As Police Nab 15 Others in Ogun Crackdown

A 50-year-old man has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old girl, while 15 other suspects were apprehended for offences ranging from illegal petroleum product dealings and vandalism to burglary, theft and receiving stolen property in a statewide security operation.
The arrests, made during separate operations conducted between July 3 and July 21 under the Command’s ongoing Operation KOSAYE, also led to the recovery of two vehicles, a stolen motorcycle, suspected illegally refined diesel, a pumping machine, a generator and other exhibits linked to criminal activities.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday in Abeokuta, saying the breakthroughs were recorded through intelligence-led policing, forensic investigation and prompt response to distress calls in line with the operational vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
According to the statement, detectives attached to the Agbado Division arrested the suspect on July 21 over allegations of defiling the minor. The victim was immediately taken for medical examination and treatment, while the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, for discreet investigation and prosecution.
The statement added that SWAT operatives arrested a suspected diesel bunkerer at Abule-Iroko, Sango, recovering four drums of suspected Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), 13 jerry cans containing suspected diesel, a pumping machine and a generator allegedly used in the illegal operation.
It further stated that detectives arrested suspected vandals of telecommunications infrastructure, recovered a stolen motorcycle and two vehicles, foiled a vehicle hijack on the Benin-Ore Expressway, and apprehended several burglary suspects through intelligence-led and forensic investigations.
Commending officers involved in the operations, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, said the Command would sustain Operation KOSAYE through intelligence-led policing, enhanced patrols, forensic investigation and community partnership to deny criminals operating space in Ogun State.
He urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to the police, assuring them that the Command would intensify proactive measures to safeguard lives, property and critical national assets across the state.
