Police arrest 150 suspects, recover firearms, 100 unregistered motorcycles in Lagos raid

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 150 suspects and recovered 100 unregistered motorcycles, firearms, suspected stolen property and illicit drugs during a crackdown on criminal hideouts in the Igando-Idimu area of the state.

The raid, carried out under the Command’s ongoing Operation KO S’AYE, followed credible intelligence on the activities of criminal elements operating around Boolar, Okofilling Bus Stop, Igando, and other identified black spots within the Area M, Idimu axis.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the coordinated operation was conducted at about 5:45 a.m. on Sunday by a joint team of operatives drawn from different formations of the Command.

Adebisi said the exercise was aimed at flushing out hoodlums and other criminal elements terrorising the affected communities.

She disclosed that exhibits recovered during the raid included 100 unregistered motorcycles, 54 mobile phones, one double-barrel gun, two single-barrel guns, one locally made double-barrel short gun, two military camouflage uniforms, assorted charms, six generators suspected to have been stolen, substances suspected to be Indian hemp and various quantities of illicit drugs.

The police spokesperson said all the suspects are in custody while investigations continue to determine their individual culpability.

“Those found to have committed criminal offences will be charged to court accordingly,” the statement said.

The statement quoted the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, as commending the operatives for their professionalism and dedication to duty.

Fatai reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining Operation KO S’AYE across the state to deny criminals safe haven and guarantee the safety and security of residents.

He also appealed to members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to assist the police in identifying criminal hideouts, apprehending offenders and strengthening security across Lagos State.
