Police Arrest Four Suspected Cultists After Attack in Ogun, Recover Gun, Axe, Stolen iPhone

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested four suspected cultists over alleged armed robbery, assault, and unlawful possession of firearms following a violent attack in Ilaro, Ogun State.

According to a statement issued on Monday, April 20, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, the suspects — Samson John (25), Olufowora Michael (28), Odeh Samuel Ejeh (25), and Olajide Jeremiah (28) — were apprehended by operatives of the Ilaro Division after a distress report was received at the station.

The complainant reported that on April 16, at about 1:00 p.m., the suspects, in company of six others now at large, stormed his residence in Ilaro, assaulted him, threatened him with an axe, and robbed him of his iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Acting on the report, police operatives launched an investigation which led to the arrest of the four suspects. Items recovered from them include a locally made pistol, an axe, suspected charms, and the stolen phone.

The Command disclosed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their swift response and professionalism, reaffirming the Command’s zero tolerance for cultism, armed robbery, and other violent crimes across the state.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely information to security agencies, assuring that criminal elements would be decisively dealt with.
