-As KGN Awards Silifat Kolawole as Supporting Wife of the year-

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities(SSANU), Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba(AAUA) chapter last Tuesday conferred an award of excellence on the former House of Representatives member, Hon. Kolawole Gabriel Babatunde popularly known as Amaechi.
Amaechi who is presently the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural and Community Development was awarded alongside other deserving members of the University Community and beyond.

The Chairman who noted that the choice of recipients was without consideration for pecuniary gains either to persons or the union stressed that the recipients of the awards were carefully considered base on merit and proven records of quality service to the Union and society at large.
He pointed out that Hon. Kolawole Gabriel Babatunde popularly called Amaechi is a household name in the community and beyond. “You may not know him in person but in one way or another, you can’t escape his contributions to both young and old in the community. Reason they called him Amaechi,” he submitted.

Prof. Oluyemisi Oluremi Obilade a human right activist who was described as a powerful voice against sexual harassment and exploitation, SSANU National President, Com. Samson C Ugwoke, SSANU Vice President(West), Com. Alfred Ilesanmi Jimoh, Com. Abdussobur Olayiwola Salam and Ifeoluwa Oyedele were also awarded.
Speaking on behalf of other awardees, Hon. Kolawole who dedicated his award to the State Governor, Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu thanked SSANU AAUA for the recognition saying the award is a call and challenge for all the awardees to do more.
In the same vein, the wife of Hon. Kolawole Gabriel Babatunde, Princess (Mrs.) Adekemisola Silifat Kolawole was also awarded as the best Supporting Wife of the year by a political group under the aegis of Kola Grassroot Network (KGN) in Ifira Akoko, Akoko South East Local Government Area where a Civic Reception was held in honour of the former lawmaker.

Thanking the organisers of the event, Mrs. Kolawole who was born and breath in Politics as her father was once a Local Government Chairman, and now wife of a politician affirmed that she’ll soon be in active Politics.
Speaking with Kakaki Newspot, Hon. Kolawole who said his wife has been supportive to him and will also support her whenever she is set to be fully active in politics stated that the occasion is just a way of appreciating once quota to the society.
He said, “to me governance is about service and service to the people, and that is what I have done for the past four years as a member of House of Representatives. Am happy because efforts I have made are being appreciated. I see it as a way of welcoming me back to the constituency and a way of appreciating Mr. Governor for the new appointment. So what we’re doing today is a three in one celebration.”
The Civic Reception which coupled with the SSANU’s Awards Ceremony had in attendance people from all walks of life including but not limited to, the Agbaka of Alagbaka Akure, Onifira of Ifira represented by Chief Sasere of Ifira, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Commisioner for Youth and Sport, Bar. Olubunmi Owanikin; Special Adviser to the Governor on Niger Delta Affiars, Oyebo Alaetan and Permanent Secretary, Directorate of Rural & Community Development, Mr. Olufemi Aladenola.
Among other personalities at the Reception are the Local Govt Chairmen: Akoko South East, Hon. Yomi Babatunde; Akoko South West, Hon. Dapo Fasesin; Akoko North East, Hon Ashimiyu and Supervising Councilors of the four Akoko local governments, Party and women leaders. Former chairman of Akoko North East Local Government, Alhaji Umar Abdul Azeez during the last administration also graced the occasion.
