Ondo State Security joint task Force on Wednesday apprehended seven of the kidnap gangs terrorising travellers along the Ikare/Owo/Akure road at Emure-Ile axis.

Similarly, the state police command has arrested two suspected Indian hemp dealers who allegedly assassinated a 75year-old woman, Mrs Modupe Olorunfemi at her Owo farm.

Parading the suspected kidnappers at the police headquarters, Igbatoro road, Akure, the Army public relations Officer for Owena Cantonment, Major Ojo Adenegan and the state police public relations officer (PPRO), Mr Femi Joseph said they were arrested at a hideout inside Emure-Owo Forest during the taskforce raid.

Major Adenegan noted that the taskforce also arrested the kidnappers’ informant who was monitoring the operations of the taskforce in the area while they were apprehended with about twenty guns, 15 dagas, 15 cutlasses and other dangerous weapons, charms, #27,820, as well as clothing materials.

On the two suspected murderers Sunday Femi and Friday Ami, the police public relations officer, said the aged woman was assassinated in February 2017 for allegedly giving security operatives information about their nefarious planting and selling of Indian hemp in Owo area.

Mr Joseph also paraded two private security guards for alleged negligence of duty in the stealing of women’s under wears at a compound in Arakale-Akure.

Today 16/1/2019 at about 03:00am the joint Task Force code named “operation crime free” acting on a tip-off, arrested six suspected kidnappers at Emure junction via Owo where they gathered together in a suspicious manner.
The following items were recovered from them, 16 locally made guns, 17 cutlasses, 13 knives, seven handsets and the sum of twenty seven thousand eight hundred and twenty naira (#27,820. 00k) cash. They also have some food items and pieces of clothing and items suspected to be charms.

They could not give a satisfactory account of their mission. Even though they claimed to be coming from Kebbi State.
