JMG Solar Projects to Cut Diesel Costs by N152m Annually

By Adebola Muili

JMG Limited has projected annual savings of more than N152 million in diesel costs from two hybrid solar power projects commissioned in Lagos, as businesses seek ways to reduce energy expenses and improve electricity supply reliability.

The company disclosed this in a statement on its third-quarter 2026 projects, comprising a 133.12-kilowatt-peak (kWp) solar installation for La Chaumiere Group and a 66kWp system at its Victoria Island branch.

The installation for La Chaumiere Group, a premium culinary and hospitality company, is expected to reduce diesel consumption by approximately 57,000 litres annually, translating to projected fuel savings of more than N102 million.

The system, which combines solar panels with 160-kilowatt hybrid inverters and 163.84 kilowatt-hours of high-voltage lithium battery storage, is also expected to generate approximately 210.86 megawatt-hours of electricity annually.

Similarly, the 66kWp installation at JMG’s Victoria Island branch is projected to save about N50 million annually by reducing diesel consumption by approximately 28,000 litres.

According to the company, the system is expected to generate 94.8 megawatt-hours of electricity yearly, meeting about 80 per cent of the branch’s energy requirements and preventing more than 37 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

JMG said the two projects demonstrate how properly designed hybrid solar systems could help businesses manage operating costs, improve energy independence and reduce their environmental impact.

The company’s Head of Solar Division, Hussein Abbas, said the projects reflected its commitment to providing reliable power solutions that also make commercial sense.

“Businesses need power they can depend on, but they also need solutions that make financial sense. These projects demonstrate that reliability, cost savings and sustainability do not have to be competing priorities,” Abbas said.

He added that businesses could reduce their dependence on diesel, lower energy expenditure and develop more sustainable power infrastructure by adopting appropriately designed solar systems.

JMG said both installations were designed following detailed energy-load assessments and PVsyst simulations to determine the appropriate system capacity for each location.

The systems feature LONGi solar modules, Deye hybrid inverters and Deye high-voltage lithium battery storage, combining solar generation with energy storage and intelligent power management.

The company also disclosed that its Victoria Island installation would serve as a demonstration facility where customers, consultants and project developers could observe the technology in operation and assess its suitability for their own businesses.

JMG said it would continue to provide turnkey solar and hybrid power solutions tailored to the energy requirements of businesses seeking to reduce diesel consumption, manage electricity costs and improve power reliability.
