Five people, including a driver, have been critically injured after a 40-foot truck rammed into two commercial buses at Berger Bus Stop, inward Kara Bridge, along the Ojodu axis of Lagos State.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) disclosed this in a statement issued by its Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq, on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
The accident involved a HOWO articulated truck, an interstate commercial Mazda bus and a Toyota Hiace bus conveying passengers.
According to the agency, the truck, which was travelling out of Lagos, rammed into the two commercial buses, leaving several occupants seriously injured.
LASTMA operatives stationed around the Ojodu-Berger axis responded promptly and rescued five critically injured persons, comprising three females and two males, including the driver.

The victims were evacuated from the scene and conveyed by motorists, accompanied by LASTMA officials, to the Lagos State Emergency and Trauma Centre at Toll Gate for urgent medical attention.
Security personnel from Isheri Police Station also provided support during the rescue operation.
The accident caused a major traffic backlog, with vehicular queues stretching to Otedola Bridge. LASTMA officials deployed along the affected corridor coordinated traffic management to ease congestion and restore normal movement.
The agency said its operatives evacuated the vehicles involved from the carriageway to prevent secondary accidents and facilitate the free flow of traffic before handing them over to the police for investigation.
Reacting to the incident, LASTMA General Manager, Mr Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed sympathy with the injured victims and wished them a speedy and complete recovery.
He emphasised the need for responsible driving, strict compliance with road safety regulations and regular maintenance of heavy-duty vehicles, particularly those operating on major highways.

Bakare-Oki warned that mechanical faults, reckless driving and loss of vehicular control could lead to devastating consequences.
He reaffirmed LASTMA’s commitment to protecting lives, reducing traffic-related hazards and ensuring smooth movement across Lagos State.
The agency urged operators of articulated trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles to ensure their vehicles were roadworthy, exercise caution and remain vigilant while navigating major traffic corridors.
It also called on motorists to comply with traffic directives issued by LASTMA officials to promote road safety and prevent avoidable accidents.
