Rite Foods Limited has donated 600 protective coveralls and other waste management tools to workers of the Ogun State Waste Management Authority (OGWAMA) as part of efforts to support environmental cleanliness and sustainability in the state.
The company made the donation on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at the OGWAMA headquarters in Abeokuta, Ogun State, to commemorate World Cleanup Day 2026, themed, “From Clean Plates to Clean Cities.”
Speaking at the presentation, Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, Rite Foods Limited, Ekuma Eze, said the initiative was aimed at recognising and supporting waste management workers whose daily efforts contribute to cleaner and healthier communities.
Eze said the donation went beyond corporate social responsibility, noting that it reflected the company’s commitment to practical environmental interventions, waste recovery and the circular economy.
“We recognise the important work that waste management workers do every day to keep our communities clean. Their contribution is critical, yet it often goes unrecognised. This initiative is our way of appreciating them while supporting them with the tools they need to carry out their responsibilities more effectively,” he said.

According to him, the initiative is part of Rite Foods’ broader sustainability agenda, which includes ecological preservation, waste recovery and recycling through programmes such as its Riteonthebeach initiative focused on waste collection and recycling across Lagos and its shoreline communities.
Eze disclosed that about 30 per cent of the materials used to produce the donated coveralls were sourced from recyclable waste generated from the company’s sausage and beverage packaging.
He said the initiative demonstrated how discarded materials could be recovered and transformed into useful products rather than ending up in drains or landfills.
“This is a practical demonstration that what we call waste can become a resource when properly recovered and recycled. We are continually exploring ways to reduce the environmental impact of our operations and create value from materials that would otherwise be discarded,” Eze said.
He further disclosed that Rite Foods was working towards achieving zero waste to landfill by 2030, meaning that waste generated from its operations would be recycled into other useful products instead of being sent to landfills.
Eze described OGWAMA as a critical stakeholder in the company’s efforts to promote a cleaner and healthier environment, particularly in Ogun State, where Rite Foods operates a manufacturing facility.
He also recalled that Rite Foods, in 2025, donated school bags made from recycled waste materials to children in schools across Lagos and Ogun states as part of its Children’s Day activities.
Speaking at the event, the Special Adviser on Environment to the Ogun State Governor and Managing Director of OGWAMA, Farouk Akintunde Adeniyi, commended Rite Foods for the donation and its continued support for environmental cleanliness in the state.
The Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Ministry of Environment, Dr. Kafayat Lawal, also applauded the initiative, acknowledging the company’s longstanding support for OGWAMA and its waste management workforce.
She said the partnership had contributed to strengthening the efforts of waste management workers in carrying out their responsibilities.
The latest intervention comes after Rite Foods received two recognitions at the 2026 EDGE Awards, where its Managing Director, Seleem Adegunwa, was named Outstanding FMCG Brand Entrepreneur of the Year, while the company was recognised as Outstanding FMCG Corporate Brand of the Year.
Rite Foods has also expanded its product portfolio with the introduction of LIDA Malt, alongside brands including Bigi Carbonated Soft Drinks, Bigi Premium Drinking Water, Sosa Fruit Drink, Fearless Energy Drink, Rite Spicy Beef Sausage, Bigi Beef Sausage and Bigi Flex Sausage.
