The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council, was among the prominent participants at the Health and Awareness Walk organised to open the 2026 NUJ Lagos Press Week.
The walk, held on Monday, September 28, 2026, brought together journalists and media practitioners from across Lagos as part of activities marking the annual Press Week.
The Health and Awareness Walk was organised to promote healthy living, physical fitness and unity among journalists, while also providing an opportunity for media professionals to interact outside their regular newsroom duties.
Members of the Correspondents’ Chapel participated actively in the long-distance walk, demonstrating solidarity and camaraderie as they joined other journalists along the route to the NUJ Secretariat.
The participation of the chapel added to the lively atmosphere of the event, with members turning out in numbers and taking part in the exercise with enthusiasm.
Beyond the physical exercise, the walk highlighted the importance of maintaining healthy lifestyles among journalists, whose profession often involves demanding schedules, long working hours and considerable mental pressure.
The event also provided an avenue for journalists from different media organisations to strengthen professional relationships and foster greater unity within the journalism community.
The Correspondents’ Chapel’s participation reflected the broader objective of the Press Week to promote interaction, networking and professional camaraderie among members of the NUJ.
The 2026 NUJ Lagos Press Week continues with other activities focused on professional development, knowledge sharing, networking and strengthening relationships among media practitioners.
