Oyo Police Arrest 17-Year-Old Boy Over Alleged Defilement of 3-Year-Old Girl

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 17-year-old boy, identified as Usman Dauda, over the alleged defilement of a three-year-old girl in Saki, Oyo State.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, September 24, 2026, saying the suspect was arrested following a distress report lodged at the Saki Divisional Police Station on September 17.

According to Ayanlade, the girl went missing while she was being picked up from school earlier that afternoon, prompting a search for her.

He said the search led to her recovery by the roadside in a distressed condition, adding that preliminary inquiries indicated that the suspect had allegedly taken her by force into his apartment, where the offence was reportedly committed.

The police spokesperson said detectives subsequently visited and secured the scene, leading to the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of physical evidence believed to be connected with the alleged offence.

Ayanlade said the girl was promptly taken to a medical facility in Saki, where she is receiving medical treatment and psychotherapeutic care.

He said the case had been transferred to the Gender Desk of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku, Ibadan, for further investigation and prosecution.

The PPRO said the command remained committed to protecting children and vulnerable persons, reiterating its “zero-tolerance” position on child abuse and sexual violence.

He also assured that the identity and privacy of the girl and her family would be protected in line with child protection laws and ethical guidelines.

Ayanlade urged residents of the state to remain vigilant and report suspected cases of violence against children and other vulnerable persons to the nearest police station.
