The Lagos State Police Command has arrested the General Overseer and founder of First Born Church, Isolo, over allegations that he sexually abused two daughters of a member of his congregation.
The pastor was arrested following a petition dated July 28, 2026, by the father of the two girls, prompting the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Fatai Tijani, to direct the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, to commence a thorough investigation into the allegations.
According to a police source, the suspect allegedly began having sexual relations with the petitioner’s elder daughter when she was 13 years old and continued until she turned 16 and gained admission into a university.
The matter reportedly came to light after the pastor allegedly sexually assaulted the younger daughter, aged 14, on two occasions.
The police source alleged that the suspect used religious teachings and manipulative interpretations of the Bible to gain the trust of the minor, in a manner similar to the approach he had allegedly used with her elder sister.
Following the alleged assaults, the younger girl reportedly disclosed the incidents to her parents, prompting the elder sister to also open up about her alleged experiences with the pastor.
The source further disclosed that the suspect was arrested and allegedly made statements admitting to the allegations.
The investigation is being conducted by the Gender Section of the SCID under the direct supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the department, DCP Dayo Akinbisehin.
The Command said the investigation was ongoing and that the suspect would be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
The police urged members of the public, particularly parents and guardians, to remain vigilant and report suspected cases of sexual abuse involving minors to the appropriate authorities.
