The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered a locally made cut-to-size Danne gun and three live cartridges during a crime prevention patrol in the Odogunyan area of the state.
The arrest was made on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, by police operatives working in collaboration with members of a local vigilante group, according to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi.
Adebisi said the suspects were intercepted while carrying a handbag during the patrol but attempted to flee on sighting the security team.
She explained that the operatives swiftly apprehended the suspects and searched the handbag, leading to the recovery of one locally made cut-to-size Danne gun and three live cartridges.
The police identified the suspects as Arowolo Damilola, 32, and Adewale Adeyinka, 29.
According to the statement, the suspects are in police custody and are assisting investigators, after which they will be charged to court.
Commending the operatives and the local vigilante members for their vigilance and collaboration, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the command’s resolve to rid the state of criminal elements.
“Their vigilance, prompt response and collaboration led to the successful arrest and recovery,” the police commissioner said.
He also warned criminals to desist from all forms of criminal activities or be prepared to “face the full weight of the law.”
The police urged residents to remain security conscious and report suspicious activities through the command’s emergency lines.
