Tegbe urges Oyo APC to unite, mobilise support for Tinubu, candidates

Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, has urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and support groups in Oyo State to close ranks and mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party’s candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Tegbe made the call during a series of engagements with APC stakeholders and Tinubu support groups in Ibadan, where he stressed the need for unity among members and urged party leaders to accommodate different interests and political tendencies within the party.

The Minister began his engagements with the APC Reconciliation Committee, led by its chairman, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, where he commended the committee for its efforts to reconcile members following the party’s primaries.

Tegbe pledged to support the committee’s reconciliation efforts by reaching out to aggrieved aspirants, while Lanlehin assured him that the committee would continue engaging aspirants and other stakeholders until greater unity was achieved.

The Minister later visited the APC State Secretariat at Oke-Ado, where he was received by the State Chairman, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo, and members of the State Executive Committee.

The party leadership acknowledged Tegbe’s support for the APC and its members, while the Minister urged the leadership to ensure that all interests and tendencies within the party were carried along.

He also pledged to continue supporting the party and its members.

At the Oyo State Secretariat of the Tinubu Support Group in Yemetu, Tegbe charged support groups to take the message of the administration’s policies and achievements to the grassroots and mobilise voters for Tinubu’s re-election and APC candidates at all levels in 2027.

The Minister said the administration’s reforms in the power sector would form part of the arguments to be taken to communities, maintaining that improvements in power generation and transmission would have direct implications for households, businesses and industries.

Tegbe said generation and transmission had risen above 5,300 megawatts in recent weeks, arguing that increased power availability would support homes, markets, workshops and factories and contribute to the administration’s industrialisation and job-creation agenda.

The Federal Ministry of Power, which lists Tegbe as the current Minister of Power, has also highlighted grid stability, metering and renewable-energy development as key areas of the administration’s power-sector reform agenda.

The minister urged the support groups to communicate the reforms and their impact to voters at the grassroots while working towards a united APC ahead of the elections.

Leaders of the various support groups thanked Tegbe for what they described as his consistent support for party members and pledged to work for the success of the APC at the polls.
