Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a suspected cultist, identified as 36-year-old Muyideen Olatunbosun, during an intelligence-led anti-crime patrol in the Ikorodu area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, saying the suspect was arrested following credible intelligence received by operatives patrolling the Idi-Iroko, Ogolonto and Agric areas of Ikorodu.
According to the statement, a search conducted on Olatunbosun after his arrest led to the recovery of a rubber-made pistol, an axe, criminal charms and an illicit drug popularly known as “Ice”.
The police said the suspect is currently in custody and assisting investigators with the ongoing investigation, while efforts are being intensified to apprehend other members of the alleged cult group.
The arrest, the command said, was part of its continued operations aimed at curbing cultism and other criminal activities across Lagos State.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their vigilance and prompt response to the intelligence that led to the arrest.
Fatai reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining intelligence-led operations against cultism and other forms of criminality across the state.
He urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to the Police, stressing the importance of public cooperation in the fight against crime.
The command urged residents to report relevant information through its emergency lines.
