RHA Mobilises NASFAT Members for Greater Voter Participation Ahead of 2027 Polls

The Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) Lagos Directorate of Muslim Affairs has called on members of the Nasrul-Lahi-l-Fatih Society (NASFAT) and other Muslims in Lagos State to actively participate in the 2027 general election by registering, collecting their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and voting on election day.

The group said greater participation by eligible Muslim voters would strengthen civic engagement and ensure that the community plays a significant role in the democratic process ahead of the polls.

The call was made during a courtesy and sensitisation visit by the directorate to the national headquarters of NASFAT in Lagos on Sunday, August 2, 2026, according to a statement made available to journalists by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Lagos Directorate of Muslim Affairs.

The delegation was led by the Director of the RHA Directorate of Muslim Affairs, Alhaji Waheed Tella, under the leadership of the Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor and Ambassador of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Lagos State, Mr. Tayo Ayinde. They were received by the Chief Missioner of NASFAT, Sheikh Abdul-Azeez Onike, alongside the society’s Vice President and members of its executive council.

Addressing the gathering, Tella described the Muslim Ummah as a critical force in the political and socio-economic development of Lagos State, urging eligible Muslims to take advantage of their voting rights.

“Lagos State boasts an estimated population of over 25 million people, with an estimated 15 million Muslims. If Muslims come out en masse with their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), we will decisively determine the outcome of the elections and ensure victory for our candidates,” he said.

He explained that the sensitisation campaign was also aimed at mobilising support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general election, particularly President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s presidential candidate and Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, as its governorship candidate.

Tella urged NASFAT members to encourage their families, friends and all eligible persons aged 18 years and above to register as voters, obtain their PVCs and participate actively in the electoral process.

Responding, the Chief Missioner of NASFAT, Sheikh Abdul-Azeez Onike, commended the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Lagos Directorate of Muslim Affairs for what he described as a proactive effort to promote civic responsibility and peaceful political engagement.

According to the statement, the NASFAT leadership assured the delegation of its support for the sensitisation initiative and pledged to encourage members across Lagos State and other parts of the country to participate responsibly in the democratic process.

The visit ended with special prayers led by the NASFAT leadership for peaceful, free and credible elections, as well as sustained peace, economic growth and political stability in Lagos State and across Nigeria.
